Itinerary

DAY 1- DEAUVILLE- BELLÊME – 235 km

Departments Calvados, Orne

Immediately after the departure, the route becomes embedded in the depths from Normandy. An enchanting plot turns up unexpectedly in countries that feel like cheese, Camembert, Livarot, Pont Bishop … The timber enhances the cachet of farms planted in the soil. The verdant meadow is sprinkled with beasts sleek horns. In this first phase of the expedition, the small roads winding through unexpected terrain were preferred, and often preferred over buttered trails crisscrossing the region. This choice allows everyone to learn quietly with our navigation mode.

DAY 2 – BELLÊME – BOUESSE – 375 km

Orne departments, Sarthe, Loir-et-Cher, Indre-et-Loire, Indre.

On paper, this is the marathon stage. In reality, the kilometers are swallowed much faster than expected on tracks that spin resolutely towards the horizon. During the implementation of this epic and over the various editions, we have linked many friendly contacts with Gaston, Jean-Louis, Mireille, Francis and many other people encountered on the route. Even if the relief is not very assured, we do not mind this step because our small field discoveries, like this old mansion found in the Pole or the mill abandoned deep in the Indre-et-Loire mysterious, throughout the trip happily.

DAY 3 – BOUESSE – GIAT – 230 km

Departments Indre, Creuse, Corrèze, Puy de Dome.

The forest occupies more space. Streaking a forgotten region, rushing rivers and other streams moult clear water cascade down each pitched chorus. The route gradually takes the pitch. Drowned in the distant haze, the first foothills of the Massif Central announce next stage full of promises…

DAY 4 – GIAT – ST-PONCY – 220 km

Departments Puy de Dôme, Cantal farms built in volcanic rocks show a much rougher campaign, but again the magic works instantly.

Slipping between the Puy de Sancy (1579 m) and the Lead of the Cantal (1 855m), the equipped rises on Cézallier plateau. Perched on a promontory last bristling with basalt, Charmansac dominates the nearby Haute-Loire. A refreshing stop at Yvette is unavoidable.

DAY 5 – ST-PONCY – ST-PONS – 305 km

Departments Cantal, Haute-Loire, Ardèche. Our breathtaking aerobatic crossing today between ridges carpeted with heather and deep valleys.

Under the crisp air of the Upper Ardeche, the route zigzags on the ridge between the Gerbier de Rush Mountains (where the Loire takes its source) and the Mézenc. With turns that are linked together without respite, it is the longest stage in terms of running time. After a final dive on the shores of Lake Saint-Front crater fed by underground springs, the route climbs on the plateau of Coiron, where lava flows carve the relief.

DAY 6 – ST PONS – GRÉOUX-les-Bains – 295 km

Departure. Ardèche, Drôme, Vaucluse, Alpes de Haute-Provence

A tiny passage between the rocks strangles before switching over the vineyard. From there, the view of the Montmirail is breathtaking. Around the corner, equipped the delights of a handful of juicy sun-soaked cherries in a small local producer. The route elbowing under the fragrant pines before swallowing the Valensol tray in the intoxicating scents of lavender. Our foolish baroud then grabs on the slopes of Mont Ventoux.

DAY 7 – GRÉOUX-les-Bains – La Ciotat – 170 km

The cicadas accompanies the travelers on the last portion of the Odyssey. The arrival approach. Each revel in the ultimate show perfumed with aromas of Provence.

No one can resist a snack under the olive tree instead of Tourtour, the village in the sky. Suddenly the big blue arises between the pine trees. Bay of La Ciotat is revealed …
